CULTUR AND PSYCOLOGY

I am going to start writing about Culturally-created Ought self in my Country.  There is a beautiful city called Otavalo, located in the Province of Ibarra, about 3 hours from Quito, the Capital of Ecuador. So the people from there are called Otavaleños, and it is quite interesting that according to studies made by Mormon scientists, the people are the remnant of the Lamanites. Many Otavaleños accepted the church after reading the Book of Mormon, which has been translated into Quechua; it is what they speak. I have to add that it is not a dialect because it fulfills all the components required to be known as Language. People from Otavalo are a very united community, with high moral and spiritual standards, moreover when they discover that were Lamanites.  They have progressed in all manners; they are brilliant, hardworking, dynamic, love to learn; they are loyal to their customs like the white vestment, which is always clean. They wear alpargatas made out of rope, and that t...

DIFFRENCE IN MANNERS

According to levels and roles, each culture has its manner code, polite, or informal ways to behave in society. Nevertheless, the rules don't always match with different cultures or ways of thinking. Brother Iver explains some of these different manners and that tourist should be aware, so they won't do any action considered rude or offensive, although they were not intended to be. There are grades of politeness, according to the roles in society. For example, Monarchy has an ancient settle policy to treat important world people. It starts with inviting o rejecting invitations, welcoming, food service, time, and even clothing. Everything has strict procedures that have to be followed in a precise time and way. Likewise, according to polite norms, influential people like business people or politics interrelate with similarities based on specific polite rules. For example, Presidents of Countries gathering with other presidents. Or CEOs of big enterprises, people in bus...

CROSS-CULTURAL STUDENTS IN TE CLASSROOM

Indeed, time changes people's behavior. Especially nowadays, some values have also changed, and what was wrong before now is correct and vice versa. The changes between my generation and the new ones are fantastic. If there was a generational gap expected, the actual opening is wide, different, but scary. If we talk about cultures, I dare to say that not many of them still as it started. Some aspects that make these changes happen are Globalization, the internet, and the new laws that permit some prohibited things before, laws where corruption has no punishment. Still, victims are questioned or even put in jail. We see people who are fighting in pro-abortion, a variety of genres, for example. It is a clear demonstration of how this time, the gap generation has gone too far. In this regard, we can talk about the Standards for a student in the class and the teachers. In my country, when I was young, we didn't have a set of rules to behave in class. It happens that stude...

ATTRIBUTIONS

It is the first time I learn about attribution, and I think it is quite exciting; nevertheless, it is a challenging topic. It is like shredding people's inner thoughts into minimal but revealed secrets, and on the other hand, stretching out the cause, the blame, and the excuse of such an action or attitude.   It is what I feel after learning the types of attributions. While there is the internal and stable attribution that infers people's behavior caused by personal issues such as traits, abilities, or feelings, these will be the shredding of our conscience and a unique way of doing things. And if we talk about external and stable, or even external, but unstable attributions can be compared with stretching out the result and consequences of a first act.   It reflects that the blame for a coming lousy situation is not mine, but others. At this point, I can say that it is straightforward to see the straw in another's eye and not the beam in our own eyes. I do not ...

INTIMATE ZONE

It has been exciting to read and listen about the bubble protection that every person has around to protect the Intimate Zone, which consists of having a private space that separates their ownership, talking of their body, and extends to material things and properties. I understand that this length space size changes according to the cultures of different countries. Depending on social status, urban habitats, and even gender, age, and race, this social distance varies. I would say that everyone moves in a self-defense way; it might be programmed in our conscious, perhaps because of an antique fear of the unknown  risks that could harm;   and that humans  had faced along with its evolution and development. If this behavior of protecting a private space also happens in animals; it proves my theory of collective self-defense attitude. Taking all the concepts described in the readings into consideration, we can say that the measurement of these distances...

INDIVIDUALISTIC AND COLLECTIVISTIC ORIENTED. VALUES AND EDUCATION

I am inclined to write about my particular way of thinking about Individualism and collectivism. But before that, let me ponder what   I understand about individual-oriented such as the ordinary American people. They tend to be individualistic, struggling for themselves, and positive achievements like self proficiency, self-determination, self-reliance, self-independent living, etc. All of it comes from a family environment with the same attitude, motivating their children to be so since they are little in the belief that it will lead them to be successful in the future, therefore beneficial for society.    IT is opposed to collective-oriented, who work on behalf of a group, such as family, party, team, etc. Here the expectations to succeed are not individual as far as it influences or aids the group goal. They would never change to another group.   They have a strong belief in unity and elderly or paternal guidance, protection, or control. So failure will...

DIFFERENCES IN EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIVENESS

After watching the class of professor Bother Ivers, I have realized how different people of the world react and express their emotions or feelings. So I start making a reflection about it, considering the behavior in this manner of people from South America. I will begin pondering about my experience and the knowledge I have acquired in my life. I was born in Ecuador, but I lived in Peru, Spain, Guatemala, Panama, Belgium, and a little in the USA. To confirm Brother Iver affirmations, yes, for example, Belgiums would indeed be on the left side of the column because they are not too expressive people, at least they weren't 40 years ago. I do no know if they have changed or not. But at that time, people were very conservative, not too friendly, not too outgoing, and usually spoke in low tones; they did not trust foreigners, although they were Europeans.  On the other hand, Spanish people are the opposite, yet they almost shout. If you go to a cafe, you will hear them speaking...
